Educational Goals

At SRIS we strive to achieve
¡¡

Excellent Academic Results at IGCSE and A level through a variety of teaching methods and small class sizes allowing for personal attention to our students needs. We offer an Internationally recognised curriculum at all stages of the school which allows students the best opportunity for success in future life.
¡¡

A balance between the academic and extra-curricular interests of our students. There are a wide range of activities and sports teams run within the school and the activities programme is unique in offering over 25 different activities for students to get involved in during the school week.
¡¡

  • Students capable of

  • making decisions

  • understanding and respect for different viewpoints

  • respect for cultural differences in the world at large

  • playing an active role in the world after leaving the school.

¡¡

Promotion of students' cultural heritage through a unique first language programme (5 languages in addition to English) allowing students to study their own language and culture throughout the school. Whilst the main language of instruction is English many students will be able to continue to support the language of their home country.
¡¡

¡¡

A pastoral programme that supports students in making decisions and deciding goals in a structured environment. This includes form tutors, Key Stage co-ordinators, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and a student counselor. All students meet with the form tutors on a daily basis and are able to voice their concerns at many different levels.
¡¡

¡¡

The involvement of the whole school community in developing a school that is reflective of the international backgrounds of the students at the school.

¡¡ ¡¡

The quality of teaching and learning and the level of individual care and attention are the key priorities of any school. At SRIS we encourage students to take part in as much as possible from sailing to sudoku! Quality educational trips within China and abroad are used to highlight areas of the curriculum and all staff are highly trained professionals within home countries and experienced classroom practitioners. Staff are trained within all areas of the curriculum and continued support and training is provided for staff to continue their own development.

SRIS aims:

  • To provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to lead full and satisfying lives.

  • To assist all students to discover and realise their full potential in a comfortable and safe environment.

  • To celebrate achievement in all areas and create a positive environment for the whole school community.

  • To promote respect and consideration for other people and the environment in which we live.

  • To encourage students to be lifelong learners and want to continue learning in a chosen field.
