REGO is located in the district of Minhang, in the
south west of Shanghai. Shanghai is within easy reach of the local
country side, with the historic cities of Hangzhou and Suzhou within a
few hours drive. With a well-qualified staff, and extensive and
developing facilities, the school offers a very high standard of
education, based on the English national curriculum, to just over 500
students of ages 3 to 18 Throughout the school's history, many European
families have opted for an education here, and as we have now expanded
our mother tongue language programme, one of the naturally most
attractive parts of our unique curriculum is the ability of students to
have a choice of up to 6 languages within the school. These are offered
within the primary school as activities as well as Mandarin and English
being part of the formal curriculum) and in the secondary school, all 6
languages are on offer to native speakers of English, Mandarin, Dutch,
French, German and Spanish. The secondary school offers GCSEs and
IGCSES (examined by Cambridge International examinations) and in
February 2009 REGO was authorized as an IB world school and began the
teaching programme in August 2009. It is an exciting time to be at
REGO!
We take justified pride in our academic achievements, and almost all
our school leavers go on to University. Britain and Portugal are the
most popular destinations but the IB Diploma is now recognized, indeed
admired, throughout the world, so that we have recent graduates in a
dozen other countries. The school has been accredited by the NCCT (the
Chinese Educational Authorization Board linked to COIS) and REGO has
applied for membership of the Council of International Schools (COIS).
Some students undertake the whole of their education at REGO, while
others spend a shorter time with us. We welcome children from the
international community, and more than 50 nationalities are currently
represented here. We have a great deal of expertise both in settling
families newcomers into a stable community, and in helping those who
are moving on, to take their next step with confidence. Whether
permanent or transient, every student here enjoys a very challenging
education, within a caring environment. We seek to ensure that everyone
enjoys coming to school, and beyond the classroom, a wide range of
extra-curricular activities promotes creativity and responsible
participation in the life of the wider community.
Thus REGO offers an international group of students an English style
education in China, unique when compared with other schools in Shanghai
and encourages a sense of personal achievement combined with concern
for others. We are proud of what the school has become during its 8
year history, and we are enthusiastic about its future.
With very best wishes,
Principal
