National Curriculum
S.R.I.S. is committed
to delivering The National Curriculum and is registered
with the Qualifications and Curriculum
Authority (QCA). Since
its inception in the mid-eighties, The National
Curriculum in the U.K. has been developed and
refined and is now accepted as a bench mark in
school curriculum planning.
Emphasising as it does, a core curriculum
through Years 1 - 9 inclusive
(5 - 14 year olds) together with the Key Stage
Tests at ages 7, 11 and 14 makes it a rigorous
and disciplined scheme of work which makes schools
accountable to their students and to the parents.
The league tables
which are connected with the key stage testing
have a value added loading and have also become
more acceptable and more meaningful in educational
terms.
We allow for some degree of specialisation at Key Stage 4 i.e. Years 10 and 11, whilst encouraging students to maintain a breadth of subjects. Such a breadth is important in keeping options open at A level and will be vital when we start teaching, we hope pending authorisation, the International Baccalaureate Diploma instead of A Levels.
