Secondary Staff

Mathematics & Sciences

David Frame: B.Sc. P.G.C.E. Head of Key Stage 5 and Secondary Science teacher, specialist Chemistry. David graduated from Exeter University with an honours degree in Chemistry and gained his teaching qualification at the University of London. After initial work for three years in Barstable School, Basildon, David went to work at The Edron International School, Mexico. He is a keen all round sportsman and is a qualified National Cricket Association Coach.


Ian Lindley: B.Sc., Cert Ed: Secondary Science and Physics Teacher. A graduate of Leeds University where he also completed his Cert Ed., Ian has most recently been Head of Physics at Horsforth School, Leeds. As a scientist, he has strong leanings towards the arts and has done many musical productions for his school, organised concerts and run a guitar club there. Apart from these pursuits he also enjoys travel and fell walking.


Reinette Broadhurst: B.Sc., P.G.C.E.: Biology Teacher. A graduate of University College, Cardiff, Reinette then gained her P.G.C.E from the University of Exeter. She has had extensive teaching experience in the U.K. and most recently has worked as Head of Science at Turnford School, Cheshunt. She is looking forward to the challenge of working abroad and lists photography, climbing, abseiling and Martial Arts amongst her interests.


Caroline Troughton: B.Sc. M.Sc., P.G.C.E.: Secondary Science Teacher. A graduate of Portsmouth University, Caroline is currently teaching at Castle Community College, Kent. She has worked briefly in New York and her interests include yoga and aerobics and she was active in the Girl Guides Association both at school and at university.


Prabhjit Bajwa: B.Sc., P.G.C.E.: Secondary Science Teacher. Prabhjit is currently teaching at Queensmead School, Middlesex where she has had responsibility for Special Eductaional Needs within the Science department. She is a keen traveller and keep-fit enthusiast !


Peter Chong: B.Sc., P.G.C.E. Head of Mathematics and Mathematics Teacher. Peter gained both his 2:1 Mathematics degree and his subsequent teaching qualification from the University of London. He has taught at Brampton Manor School, Newham and most recently at The Grey Coat Hospital School, Westminster. He is a keen amateur guitarist and is also involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.


Richard Cooper: B.Sc., P.G.C.E. Mathematics Teacher. A graduate of Leeds University, Richard has completed his P.G.C.E. at Exeter, specializing in Mathematics. He has been an EFL teacher and worked in Shanghai in the past. He has also completed a Chinese Language course at Shanghai Theatre Academy.


Joseph Keating: B.Sc., P.G.C.E.: Mathematics Teacher. After a career as an engineer in the Royal Navy, Joe went to North London Polytechnic to gain his B.Sc., and subsequently qualified as a teacher from St Mary¡¯s College, Twickenham. He has been teaching in London Schools (most recently Ernest Bevin College, Tooting.) He enjoys travel, cinema and driving and is a keen camper. He is looking forward to returning to Shanghai which he visited briefly when he was in the Navy.


John Watkins: B.A., B.Ed.: Mathematics Teacher. John has had considerable teaching experience in Mathematics in schools in Liverpool including Quarry Bank where John Lennon of Beatles fame was a student ! He is currently Examinations Officer, Cover and Data Manager at St John Bosco High School. A keen player, coach and organsier of cricket, John also has been studying Mandarin and learning Tai Chi.


Celine Crommelinck: M.A. Dip Ed.: Mathematics Teacher. Celine is a graduate of Gent University in Belgium and has taught in schools and colleges in Belgium since qualifying. She has travelled and also worked abroad quite extensively and is now based in Shanghai.  Her interests are in music : she plays the piano and enjoys choral singing.
Information Technology and Design and Technology


John Erwin: B.Sc (IT), B.Sc (Technology Education). Head of IT and teacher of Information and Communication Technology. A Graduate of The University of Sunderland, John joins us from Beths Grammar School, Bexley, Kent where he has been teaching in the U.K. Previously, John has had experience working abroad in Syrian and Kuwait. He has a variety of interests.


James McDonald: B.A., Q.T.S. Head of Design Technology. James is a graduate of John Moores University, Liverpool, and most recently has been teaching at Carre¡¯s Grammar School, Sleaford. He has worked in banking and is a qualified football coach. He enjoys sport and plays Gaelic football and is a member of Sleaford rugby team.


John Peacock: M.Sc., Art Teachers Diploma: Teacher of Information and Communication Technology. John, or Ricky as he prefers to be known, has worked abroad in Kuwait, Malaysia and Greece and most recently has been teaching at Tianjin Rego International School. His interests are in the field of Art and he has also set up a ¡®Model Club¡¯ at TRIS giving the students an opportunity to build and race model cars.


The Arts
John Barrie Wade: B.A., P.G.C.E. Director of Music and Music Teacher. Educated at Leicester ad Birmingham Universites. Successful career over a period of eleven years in the U.K. starting in London, then Eastbourne and lastly in Cornwall. An active performer who enthusiastically embraces all the arts.


Carl Binstead: B.A., P.G.C.E.  Head of Art and teacher of Design and Technology.  Carl is a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University and gained his teaching qualification from St Martin's College, Lancaster.  He has worked as a self-employed artist but after qualifying has taught in schools in the North East of England.  He has a wide variety of interests which extend to baking (food technology !) since his family's business was in baking and confectionery.


Andrew Shackleton: B.Ed., Dip H.E.: Teacher of Design and Technology and Art.  Andrew is currently teaching at Stowe (independent) school but has also taught abroad in Malaysia. He has been involved with Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes and has also contributed to school productions as a set designer.


Gillian Hunter: B.A., P.G.C.E.:  Secondary Art Teacher. Gillian is a graduate of Sunderland University and completed her PGCE at University College St Martins, Lancaster.  She has taught at schools in Lancaster and Burnley and is very keen on mixed media work in Art.  She has completed The Duke of Edinburgh¡¯s Awards up to and including gold level and enjoys sport and travel.


Languages
Adam Flower: B.A., P.G.C.E. Cert TESOL. Head of Modern languages and teacher of French and German. A graduate of The University of the West of England, Adam gained his P.G.C.E. at Leeds university and he is currently teaching at Roundhay High School, Leeds. He has organized many foreign language trips abroad as part of his modern languages teaching commitment. His interests are mainly traveling and sport and he is a holder of a Chief Scout¡¯s Challenge Award.


Catherine Clerc: Ph.D., M.A. Examinations Officer and Head of French and French teacher. Catherine is a French national who after graduating in English in Dijon in France studied at Leeds for her M.A. and gained her doctorate at Keele University. Catherine opted for a secondary school teaching career and is currently in her second year teaching at Mouton Secondary School, Northampton. She enjoys running and going to the theatre.


Rhoda Yates: B.A., M.B.A., P.G.C.E.: Modern Foreign Languages Teacher. (Spanish and French.) Rhoda gained her degrees in Canada and her teaching qualification at the University of Gloucester in the U.K. After a career in Foreign Affairs and International Trade, her teaching career was launched at The John Kyrle High School, Ross-on-Wye, and since then she has also taught in other schools in Hereford and Worcester. She enjoys music and is proficient in karate and has travelled to over 20 countries !


Anna Escasany: B.A., P.G.C.E.: Modern Foreign Languages Teacher. (Spanish) Anna is currently teaching at Tupton Hall School, Chesterfield. She has worked in Spain and traveled extensively in Central America. She has a wide range of interests including swimming in which she has been selected to compete at regional level.


Wesley Markin: B.Sc. P.G.C.E.: Secondary English Teacher. A graduate of Leeds University and with a teaching qualification from Nottingham University, Wesley worked in sales before turning his attention to teaching. He has worked in Chiang Mai, Thailand and is currently and English teacher at Marple Hall School, Stockport. He has also gained a TEFL qualification and is himself a very keen writer having completed one (unpublished) novel and working now on his second. He plays the guitar and says he is ¡°quite athletic.¡±


Angie Roussounis: B.A., P.G.C.E: Secondary English and Religious Studies Teacher. Angie has a degree in Theology and English from The University of Surrey and completed her PGCE through Medway Teacher Training in Kent. She has been teaching at Northfleet School for Girls in Kent where she has responsibilities for teaching her two main subjects. Angie describes herself as a film buff and enjoys yoga, swimming and cycling.


Joanne Fletcher: B.A., P.G.C.E. Head of English. Joanne is a graduate of Lancaster University and taught in schools in Lancashire before moving to teach in Japan where she has recently been teaching English to Japanese students. Joanne has a Bronze award in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and has a certificate to prove basic competency in Japanese !


Jason Doorga: B.A., M.A., P.G.C.E. : Secondary English Teacher. Jason¡¯s interests spread beyond the realms of Literature to Philosophy, the subject in which he gained his Master¡¯s degree from the University of Wales, Lampeter. Jason previously taught in China before returning to the U.K. to complete a teaching degree at the University of West England in Bristol. He has studied Mandarin and a Chinese health therapy called Buqi.


Ross Brooks: M.A., P.G.C.E.: Secondary EAL Teacher. Ross¡¯ main degree is in applied linguistics but he also has qualifications in computer programming and social sciences. He has been working as a lecturer in English in Beijing but has also worked in other parts of China and also in Canada . He enjoys the outdoor life. Especially sailing an d hiking.


Isabella Sun: B.A. Head of Upper School Mandarin. Graduate of East China Teacher¡¯s University with a degree in Chinese Language and Literature. Worked in an international school for three years before taking up her appointment with Shanghai Rego International School where she teaches advanced level Mandarin classes in the secondary department.


Even Shao: B.A. Secondary Mandarin Teacher. Graduate of Shanghai Foreign Language University. Studied also child psychology and subsequently worked on a training programme with Intel. Before joining Shanghai Rego International School worked as a bilingual teacher at a Primary School in Shanghai.


Lingling Liu: B.A. Secondary Mandarin teacher. A graduate from East China Normal University, Linglin has worked as a private tutor in Mandarin as well as having worked in an ancillary staff position at a local international school.


CoCo Shi: B.A. Secondary Mandarin teacher. A graduate of Nanjing Normal University with a major in English, CoCo has taught for six years at the Shanghai Peijia International School Bilingual Institute.


Rainy Xu: M.A., B.A.: Secondary Mandarin teacher. Rainyye obtained her first degree at Shanghai Normal University and secured her Masters in Comparative Literature from Fudan. She has worked as a Mandarin teacher at Shanghai Ji Guang Senior High School and she has also been responsible for introducing work on Drama into the school and has contributed to the Version 2000 of the text book used in this subject. She is keen to broaden her experience at an international school.


Humanities
James Flack: B.A., P.G.C.E., T.E.S.O.L. Head of Humanities and Business Studies Teacher. James is a trained accountant who has spent most of his career in teaching after initially working in the commercial world. He taught in Huddersfield and in Guernsey College of F.E. before working abroad in Bahrain and most recently at the New English School, Kuwait. Enjoys the great outdoors but also keeps his eye on the financial markets !


Alan Dilworth: B.A., P.G.C.E. Humanities Teacher. After a brief career in industry, Alan gained his P.G.C.E from The University of Leeds and initially taught in the north east of England before appointments at The Victoria English School, Sharjah and most recently at Cambridge International School, Dubai. His main interests lie in the fields of sport but he also sees himself as being an ambassador for English culture.


Phil Brighty: B.A., P.G.C.E.: Humanities Teacher (Geography). Originally Head of Geography at Colchester Sixth Form College, Phil has been working in Sri Lanka at Colombo International School for the last two years. He is an ex-rugby referee and now enjoys golf and plucking his guitar !


Martyn Harrison: B.A., P.G.C.E.: Humanities Teacher (History). Martyn is currently teaching at Fort Pitt Grammar School for Girls in Kent. He enjoys competitive sports especially football and tennis and has local success coaching the school¡¯s football team who reached their area finals on the day of his interview !


Leanne Campbell: B.Sc., P.G.C.E.: Teacher of Psychology. Leanne gained a first class honours degree in Psycholgy and has been teaching at Monkseaton Community High School, Newcastle Upon Tyne where she has also been involved in teaching the GCSE integrated humanities course. She enjoys climbing and drama ! (Leanne will also be acting as SRIS School Counsellor).


Physical Education and Games
Daniel Iddon: B.Sc. Q.T.S. Director of Sport and Physical Education and Games Teacher. Graduate of the University of Sunderland and first worked as a fitness instructor/coordinator for Sebastian Coe Health and Fitness Clubs. After a brief spell with the Lancashire Police Force decided to commit to teaching and gained qualified teacher status as a secondary school P.E. teacher. Taught at a specialist sports college in the north of England before joining the staff of Shanghai Rego International School.


Anna Robinson: B.Sc., P.G.C.E.: Secondary PE Teacher. Anna graduated from Canterbury Christchurch University College and completed her teacher training at the University of Exeter in Sports Science and P.E. Her main interests are sporting and she completed the Flora London Marathon in 2006 !


Gemma Ritchie: B.Ed.: Secondary PE Teacher. Gemma gained a first class honours in Physical Eductaion from Edinburgh University and has been teaching at The Mongomery School for the last year. She is a qualified swimming coach and PADI Dive master and has led dive teams in the Dominican Republic. She is a red belt in KUPSO (Martial Arts) and her brother is a member of the UK Olympic Swimming Team !
