The Computer Studies, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department

The Secondary School has 2 modern Computer Laboratories with 20 PCs in each and 3 computer rooms in Primary. The number of PCs in the school has now reached over 300 with over 120 PCs in dedicated computer rooms for student  learning.   All teaching rooms in the School are Networked with a PC and have Interactive White Boards.  The School has also updated its Library to include a suit of  PCs for students use in research work.

The ICT Department uses a range of  technology and teaching styles to cover  the National Curriculum for ICT, and offers a wide range of ICT and Computer Studies courses from CIE Computer Studies.

A large number of different computer programs are used in order to allow each pupil to experiment and problem-solve, and we encourage them to use the skills learned in all subject areas within the school.

We aim to get the pupils to become independent users of computer technology to use in all areas of their study and allowing the pupils to access the wealth of abundant and vital information held on the Internet.

We are committed as a school and department to allowing the pupils to access the wealth of abundant and vital information held on the Internet but we are also acutely aware of some of the negative sides to using such technology.
